​Dr. Edith Arámbula-Mercado is a Transportation Engineer and Pavement Materials Scientist, bringing with her a combined 25 years of industry and applied research experience from the federal, state, and private sectors (i.e. United States Federal Highway Administration, Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI), City of San Pedro, Mexico, and Applied Research Associates, Inc.).  Dr. Arámbula-Mercado’s specialty lies in the characterization of flexible pavement materials, beneficial uses of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), and pavement asset management.  She has provided sponsored technical services for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Florida Department of Transportation, Maryland State Highway Administration, Delaware Department of Transportation, and the District of Columbia Department of Transportation.  Dr. Arámbula-Mercado has consulted for airports such as LaGuardia Airport (New York) and San Francisco International Airport performing runway conditions assessments. She is an active member of the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists (AAPT), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and Transportation Research Board (TRB) for which she serves on three steering committees.  Dr. Arámbula-Mercado has published over 45 peer-reviewed publications and has authored more than 20 technical reports sponsored by TxDOT, TTI, and the National Cooperative Highway Research Program.  She has given several lectures; more recently serving as an honorary keynote speaker for Mujeres en Ingeniería: Tecnología en Materiales Asfalticos (Women in Engineering: Technology in Asphalt Materials) in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México, March 2019.  Dr. Arámbula-Mercado enjoys reading and listening to suspenseful podcasts.
